II Cielo che Danza (The Dancing Sky) by Compagnia di Valerio Festi

Venue: National Museum of Singapore (Stamford Garden) and Singapore Management University (Campus Green)

Organized by: National Museum of Singapore

In collaboration with: Italian Cultural Institute

It's museum's first ever Night Festival by the world famous Compagnia di Valerio Festi from Italy. Well known for their extra ordinary and large scale outdoor performances. It set to dazzle and enthral audiences with The Dancing Sky, featuring aerial performances such as, angelic dancers appear from the heavens suspended by floating hand-painted spheres, a grand piano and huge flying sailship soaring through the air high up in the sky under the artificial rain (My fave!).

Dreamlike princesses fly high the audience with exquisite music and lighting. It is not only dazzling but also makes you feel like you are in fantasy land. Not to mention the spectacular dances with contrasting elements - fire and water (my another fave!).

Set againsst the beautiful facade of the museum, this extraordinary extravaganza transforms the venue into a surreal and magical playground with color and beauty.

As a picture is worth a thousand words, blw are some of the excellent photos and videos. Thanks to the talented photographers and video camera men, who came to the show!

I found this site, where the photos seems to be free of "special effects" that are so common in this age of digital imaging.

My fave !!!!

My another fave !!!! I can't find any better videos, though!

Myriad - presented by Ivory Keys, SMU Singapore

Went to SMU Ivory Keys' first debut piano concert, Myriad. It is their first public showcase of their musicians and one of them is our friend - Yuliana Hendarto.

The performances featuring repertoire ranging from four-hand to solo piano works. Yuli is performing Benjamin Britten's "Nocturne" from Sonitina Romantica.

Although I'm not a music expert but this piece has both character and charm. Yuli doesn't look nervous at all. She was real steady and played it beautifully. Not to mention how her earring sparkles under the spotlight. Hehe.

I especially luv the emcee of the night. She's so fluent and entertaining, even when she made mistakes, she managed to save it with a joke. Whoever she is, I can see a bright future in the industry.

Ristorante Bologna - Lazio 14th - 19th July 2008

Found this restaurant over an ad in the newspaper.

Usually, this didn't attract me so much but their gastronomic tour of Italian cuisine (May 08 - Oct 08) from regions such as Campania, Lazio, Liguria, Emilia Romagna and Umbria is so irresistable.

First all of all, once I stepped into Marina Mandarin, their customer services is thumbs up! Very friendly, very helpful.

Even though the interior design is not exactly the most sophisticated or elegant in town but I like the fact that its restaurants and lounges are located in the middle of the hotel where it's visible even from the high floors (because the centre of the building is hollow).

You can easily stand on the 4th floor and looked down at the musicians with the soothing music lingering in the air. I luv the ambiance and what I luv most is that the lounge is at the open air, inside the building, with no smoke and relatively less crowd. Definitely a good place to catch up and hang out.

Talented Chef Patron Carlo Marengoni presents a signature Italian favourites, made with that special homespun goodness.

Home to the capital city Rome, Lazio's famous culinary fare is prepared without elaborate trimmings and costly ingredients.

The appetiser that we had was divine. It's simply toasted bread with melted mozzarella cheese and anchovy sauce at the center. Sounds simple and yet, taste so rich.

For main course, I had Bucatini all Amatriciana pasta with bacon, onions and fresh tomato sauce, which is known as Lazio specialties. This is the first time I had pasta itself out wins the sauce. The pasta is so fresh and is so "bouncy". Even Bukudu, who didn't fancy pasta kept stealing it.

Oh, just to add it even more interesting, did I mention that this Italian gastronomic tour provides you a passport which gives you a stamp whenever you dine from each region?
0
Doesn't that just add more reality to my manifestation for my Italy trip? =)

By the end of the dinner, I had decided to frequent this place. Nice ambiance, excellent services at a surprisingly reasonable price.

Cant wait for the next destination - Liguria 25th - 30th August 2008.

Hellboy II

Well, the title isn't exactly holy but surprisingly, Hellboy himself is not the villain. In fact, he's the good guy - kitten loving hero, romantic overgrown kid who tried to stop evil and its master plans.

I watched Hellboy I and I almost fell asleep. But the graphics of Hellboy II: The Golden Army is much, much better - far beyond breathtaking fantasy.

The farnie part is where Hellboy and Abe sang to Barry Manilow love songs, "Can't Smile Without You." The picture can't be more wrong but at the same time cracks you up.

This movie does hv its own personality!

Freaking 10 years !!!

Forwarded by a friend in email yesterday.

I believe any human has the capability to do it but does anyone hv the patience and the perseverance for not only a mth or a year but freaking 10 years?

============================================================================

This is a true story that happened in Japan .

In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan breaks open the wall.

Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls.
When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there
because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet. He sees this,
feels pity, and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail, it
was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built.

What happened?

The lizard has survived in such position for 10 years! In a dark wall
partition for 10 years without moving, it is impossible and mind-boggling.
Then he wondered how this lizard survived for 10 years!
without moving a single step--since its foot was nailed!

So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what it has been doing, and
what and how it has been eating. Later, not knowing from where it came,
appears another lizard, with food in its mouth. Ah! He was stunned and
touched deeply. For the lizard that was stuck by nail, another lizard has
been feeding it for the past 10 years...

It has been doing that untiringly for 10 long years, without giving up hope
on its partner.

Elements Spa

Have been looking forward to the massage session today with Panci all week long! With the long hours infront of computer, my shoulders felt as stiff as a board and my neck as brittle as glass, which is why Cen, my masseuse offered to step on it.

The minute her fingers starting to work her magic down my body in the deep tissue massage, you can hear the relief from my muscles down the corridor metaphorically speaking. I luv her strong fingers and the gentle but firm stroking movements gliding from centre back to the sides of the shoulder. You can feel the oil dispersing and soothing at the same time. I especially love the thumb pressures on the muscles.

Eventhough her skills are excellent, she wasn't very gentle after she massage each part of my body. She tends to just "dump" or even "throw" my body back to the board, which awaken me each and everytime she does. It makes me feel like I'm just a lump of meat to her but then again, as her fingers play the melody again, I doze off into relaxation and sleep in no time.

Oh, Thanks to Bukudu, who refused (no matter what!) to give me any moisturiser, mainly because, I quote, "Your surface area is too big!". It keep coming to my mind whenever I go for a massage. !@#$%^!@#

But regardless of all the massages I had been to, I miss Vivian Lo's knuckling and rippling of her fingers (or is it hands?) down my spine, it's so divine!

Girl, where hv you been ???

Jojo's Fashion Show

On one fine day, I stumbled over this game on the web.
I love it ever since - for the countless of possibilities in mix and match outfits, from top to bottom with accessory.

Not that I have a lot of free time on my plate but whenever I do at times, I will look for this game from time to time. It's therapeutic.

It may sound dumb to some but I love the colors, the patterns, the countless and different styles that this game flashes. It's literally a fashion show from your computer. The only difference is that the designer is not Gianni Versace and the fashion stylist is not Rachel Zoe - but it is you yourself.

This world is not fair

A friend sms-ed me this morning:

"This world is not fair and it never will be.

Expecting the world to treat you fairly just because u are a good person is like expecting the lion not to attack you just because you are a vegetarian."

Whoa! What a way to greet mornings, eh? But then again, you hv to agree there is some truth in it, eh?

My Passion

I have always love fashion for as long as I can remember.

Perhaps, it's under the influence of both my parents working in the apparel industry. I started to help them out during high school and since then, this interest have anchored deep inside me.

I majored in Finanace & International Business. May be because I didn't really fancy the subjects, I struggle hard through but managed to graduate without failing any subjects. Phew! I can still remember the late nights with cups and cups of coffee being my companion.

Since then, my life hv been in the fashion industry - apparel to be exact. Despite of the long hours and the hectic work, my passion is still there. That said, it doesn't mean my career journey has been a bed of roses. It has its good times where I feel I was on top of the world but it also it has its bad days, where I was so frustrated that I wanna pull all of my hair out literally.

Nevertheless, I still luv what I do. Cameron Diaz summarized it well in What Happens in Vegas,

" I'd rather do nothing and be happy than do something I don't love."

I hope all of you out there are happy with what you are doing. 'coz if not, you hv some thinking to do. You owe yourself to that!
